Taking the Leap: From Boardrooms to Boat Life

We almost never stop to appreciate our personal path, and we need to. Because we grow and change all the time.

Within this amazing journey as a family, I, Adi, the mom, the wife, made a significant shift from a workaholic hi-tech career life to a 24/7 stay-at-home, sailing, digital nomad.

It was never my dream to be a stay-at-home mom. I wanted the job, the prestige, the flights, the hotels. I wanted to wear high heels and beautiful skirts, and I had it all.

During the past two years (and truthfully since COVID), I realized quiet mornings with my family are more important to me than work calls. When I do something I love, something I resonate with on a personal level, the professional becomes an integral part of my personal life and that’s where my life-work balance lies.

David Clarke said, “20 years from now, the only people who will remember you worked extra hours are your kids,” and I say, “Yes, and"—if you choose to work hard, try to do it on something that moves you from the inside.

Planning our journey, we planned to use our savings and work part-time to sustain this lifestyle, but while Sergey already had his business, I had no idea what I would do. With all my years as a product manager and all my experience in startups, it was the first time in my life that I didn't have a plan. I only had a goal—to do something I love. And I won’t lie, taking that leap into the unknown was terrifying.

Adi looking into the horizon

Through our family journey, navigating the globe 🌍, and spreading the message that chasing your dreams is possible, even without immense wealth, I've discovered the joy of helping others succeed. And although I still don’t make enough $$$ to have financial quiet, that’s all I do, and I couldn't be happier. I coach product and OKR, I empower dream-seekers to initiate their dream-making, I manage our social media channels inspiring over 80K followers to follow their dreams, and I manage a sailing Facebook group that brings the voice of the dreamers and other dream-makers. and most importantly, I’m a 24/7 mom, teaching our kids that everything is possible and cuddling them every second I get (and I get a lot 😉).

But my change didn’t happen overnight, and I honestly don’t think it would have happened if we hadn’t taken the leap to follow our dreams.

Why am I sharing all of this? Because I know it’s terrifying. But if we always wait for the right time and for things to align perfectly, we won't get anywhere.

Sometimes you just need to take the leap.
